Welcome to the South Sound Exotic Bird Society (SSEBS) website.  We are an educational organization, part of whose mission is to help you learn how to successfully live with and care for your companion parrot.  On this website you will find articles, how-to advice, nutrition information, everyday living skills, contact persons to answer your questions, and helpful hints about living with parrots.

SSEBS MISSION STATEMENT

  • To further and encourage the advancement of avian knowledge through support of general and field research with the aims of gaining and distributing information about all types of exotic birds, and furthering preservation of the world's parrots in their native habitats.

  • To support parrot welfare organizations by making financial and other donations.

  • To educate companion parrot caregivers about how to adequately provide for the welfare of parrots in captivity through educational outreach programs.

  • To provide a social forum for people with an interest in parrots.
Meetings are currently held bi-monthly on the second Friday of the month from 7-10 pm
(check the monthly calendars on the EVENTS page for detailed information)

We meet in the Olympia Center, 222 North Columbia, Room 103 (use the Capitol Way entrance),
in downtown Olympia (unless otherwise indicated on the website or in the newsletter).
 
Guest speakers are frequently scheduled. In December, we celebrate with a holiday party.

Please note that we are required to conform to a rule of no animals or birds in the
Olympia Center unless the non-human is part of a speaker’s presentation.


All people interested in companion birds are welcome to attend meetings.  
Included in membership benefits is a bi-monthly newsletter,
filled with interesting articles and information, that reminds
members of meetings and upcoming events.

We believe that the better we understand and respect our birds, the better we can ensure that they will live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives as our companions. So check out our site.  We’re taking the bet that you’ll decide to stay awhile.
